Fishing

Whether It’s spring, summer, fall or winter Otter Tail Lake offers abundant fishing opportunity.  In the spring the walleye fishing is king.  Walleye actively feed on spawning shiners and can be caught in numbers from shoreline, docks, and river bridges out to first-drops and weed edges.  Springtime walleye fall for live bait rigs tipped with shiners. While most summer anglers trade in their poles for water skis don’t miss the excellent mid-summer walleye action by live bait rigging on the lakes many sunken islands or crank bait trolling on the many miles of shallow flats.  Fall and winter are special seasons on Otter Tail Lake.  Shortly after Labor Day the walleye and perch get into a feeding mood that anglers should not miss.  The walleye stay on a thunderous bite until early into the new year or when the ice is about 15 – 20 inches thick and then reboot again in Feb. While the walleye seam to take a mid-January break the perch just keep on going and both fall and winter perch fisherman should not miss it.  Barky’s Resort offers both fully guided fishing in the summer and guided fishing and fish house rental in the winter.   We also have 4 season fish cleaning facility and Ken’s Tackle is located directly across the street from the resort to help supply you with all your bait and tackle needs.
